Písečan

The folklore group was founded in 1975. The leading figure at its foundation was Mrs. Danešová, who gave the group its image. After she left, Dr. Bečka took over the group for several years with Mrs. Pavlovcová who provided the musical arrangement. During the 25 years of the folklore group existence, there werw coun-tless numbers of changes involving many dancers, musicians has almost 40 members and takes an interest in custums, songs and folk dances from South and West Bohemia, which are arranged freely musically and choreographically. The folklore group Písečacn has performed in many European countries. Apart from Germany, Italy, France, Spain, England, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Lithuania the folklore group takes also part in many festivals in Bohemia.

Písečan is the main organizer of the International Folk Festival in Písek, which has been held every August for almost 12 years.
